A Study on the Occlusal Patterns of Primary Dentition of Children in Korea

Abstract
The occlusal patterns of the primary dentition were studied by analyzing cast models from 3 to 6 year-old children(65 boys, 55 girls) in Kwang Ju city.
The results were as follows;
1. In sagittal primary canine relationship, Class I canine relationship was prevalent.
2. In sagittal primary second molar relationship, flush terminal plane relationship was prevalent.
3. In sagittal primary canine and second molar relationship, there was the same relationship in each occlusal type.
4. In sagittal primary central incisor relationship, an over jet of 0.1 to 2.0 was observed most frequently.
5. In vertical primary central incisor relationship, an overbite of 0.1 to 4.9 was prevalent.
6. In transversal primary molar relationship, prevalence of cross bite was below 5 % of the children.
7. In transversal arch spacing, primate space was observed in medial side of upper primary canine and distal side of lower primary canine.
8. In dental arch forms of primary dentition, ovoid form was prevalent.
